ITF circuit. In 2010, she earned her position among the world's top 100 players.
In August 2014, Simona succeeded her career-best at that time, since she was 2nd-placed
according to the WTA rankings, back then the best position ever for a
Romanian tennis player. In October 2017, Simona Halep was at the top of the WTA
rankings uninterruptedly, until January 2018. Simona Halep regained her
position at the top of the rankings in February the same year and stayed there until
early into 2019, after the Australian Open. Simona Halep maintained her

got married. Her spouse is 42-year-old Toni Iuruc, a businessman who was also
born into the Aromanian community.
As of late, Simona Halep has chosen another coach for
herself. She has made public the termination of the contract with Daren Cahill,
an Australian she had been working with since 2015, on and off. While working
with Cahill, Simona Halep won her first Grand Slam title, also maintaining the
lead position according to the WTA rankings. Simona's new coach is Adrian
Marcu, a Romanian she worked with in 2013. Marcu told the press he would work
to the best of his abilities so that Simona can return to a more aggressive
style of play and yet again climb up in the world rankings. At the moment,
Simona Halep is WTA 15-th placed.
