Dinamo Bucharest has advanced to the play-off stage as part of the Champions League in men's handball. In a Group D fixture, in Bucharest this past Wednesday, Dinamo grabbed a 27-26 win against Swiss team Kadetten Schaffhausen. With a win-all record in the first stages of the ongoing European season, Dinamo is at the top of the table, with 12 points. Following are Danish side GOG Gudme with 8 points, Kadetten Schaffhausen with 6 points, Orlen Wisla Plock of Poland with 5 points, Chekhovskyie Medvedy of Russia with 4 points and Swedish team IFK Kristianstad with 3 points. Dinamo and Kadetten have played seven games so far, while the other teams in the group have played six games each. The first two teams in the group will go through to the play-off. Dinamo will next travel to Sweden, for the match against IFK Kristianstad on November 13.
In women's handball, CSM Bucharest this past Sunday defeated MKS Perla Lublin, 28-19, in a Group B fixture as part of the Champions League. CSM has thus made headway into the League's main group stage. CSM is at the top of the table, with 7 points, followed by Rostov Don, with 5, Team Esbjerg, with 4 and MKS Perla Lublin, with zero points on their record sheet. The first three teams will book their ticket for the competition's main group stage.
In news from table tennis, Bernadette Szocs, Eliza Samara, Daniela Dodean Monteiro and Adina Diaconu, Romania's lineup for the table tennis World Cup, has made it to the quarterfinals. In Tokyo, Romania defeated the team of Vanuatu, 3-nil, previously Romania sustained a 1-3 defeat by Taiwan, in a fixture counting towards the World Cup's Group C.
In men's volleyball, in a match counting towards the first leg of the Champions League's second round, CS Municipal Arcada Galaţi grabbed a 3-nil home win against Serbian opponents Vojvodina NS Seme Novi Sad, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21. The return leg will be played in Novi Sad on November 13.
In men's basketball, on Wednesday night, CSM CSU Oradea thrashed Swiss opponents Fribourg Olympic, 79-60, away from home. The match counted towards Group D of FIBA Europe Cup. Romania's champion team has thus succeeded the third win in a row, in a match were all along, CSM had the upper hand. In the other Group D match, Basketball Club CSU Sibiu sustained 81-83 home defeat by Turkish contenders Bahceşehir College. CSM CSU Oradea is at the top of the table, with 6 points. CSM is followed by Bahceşehir College with 5 points, Fribourg Olympic, with 4 points and CSU Sibiu, with 3 points.
