Popescu wants to take part in the first round of the World Fencing Cup, set to
take place in November in Tallinn, Estonia. Popescu resumed full training after
having sustained surgery in her right knee at the end of May. A gold medalist
with Romania's national team at the Rio Olympics, Ana-Maria Popescu is one of
the athletes with the highest chances of grabbing a medal at the Tokyo Olympics
due next year.
triathlete Felix-Pierre Duchampt has been approved by the International Olympic
Committee to represent Romania at the Olympic Games. The announcement came from
the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee in a website post. Duchampt became a
Romanian citizen on March 9, 2020 and is currently eligible to take part in the
Olympic Games next year. Felix-Pierre Duchampt's last appearance in sports
competitions was at the World Cup in Miyazaki, Japan, on November 10, 2018,
when he was representing France. Under the Olympic Charter, an athlete can
represent a country in the Games after a three-year break since his last
participation on behalf of a given country. Without the special approval of the
International Olympic Committee, Duchampt couldn't have been part of Romania's
Olympic delegation earlier than November 10, 2021.
The number of
Romanian footballer performing in the First Italian League has now reached six.
Denis Drăguș has successfully past the fitness test for his new team, Crotone,
where he was sent on loan by his current club, Standard Liège. Another five
Romanians are competing in Serie A - Ciprian Tătărușanu for AC Milan, Ionuț
Radu for Internazionale Milano, Vlad Chiricheș for Sassuolo, Ștefan Radu for Lazio and Răzvan Marin for Cagliari.
