In the women’s singles, Simona Halep is seeded second while Irina Begu, also from Romania, is the 29th seed. In the doubles event, Romanian - Dutch pair, Horia Tecau – Jean Julien Rojer starts as the odds-on favourite. In the Cup Winner’s Cup, Municipal Craiova was stopped in their tracks for the quarterfinals by Krim Ljubljana. The Romanians won the first match at home 30-29, but the former European champions managed a 27-23 win in the return game. Romania’s water polo side failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the European Championships in Serbia. Our athletes lost 9-15 to Greece in the eighth finals.
And now the latest from football. Romanian international Adrian Mutu will be playing for ASA Targu Mures. Mutu, 37, had played for Indian side Pune City by the end of last year.
