News from tennis and football
This weekend saw the conclusion, in Bucharest, of the BRD Bucharest Open, a WTA circuit competition with 226,750 USD in total prize money. The star player of the tournament was without doubt the Romanian Irina Begu. She won both the singles, and the doubles competition, where she played together with another Romanian, Raluca Olaru.
In the singles event, Begu won every set, throughout the tournament. In the final she defeated Germany’s Julia Goerges, 6-3, 7-5.
