The Romanian men’s handball team Dinamo Bucharest lost to Gorenje Velenje of Slovenia on home turf, 27-26, in a match counting towards the Champions League Group C. This was Romania’s second consecutive defeat in the current season, after last week our team lost 28-39 to Skjern Handbold of Denmark. The next match for Romania’s champions is slated for Wednesday, September 27, when they will take on Kadetten Schaffhausen of Switzerland at home.
At the European Aerobic Gymnastics Championships hosted by Ancona, Italy, Romania won three gold medals and three bronze medals in the seniors’ competition. The first medal was scooped on Saturday in the team event. On Sunday, our athletes grabbed gold and bronze in the trio event, and then gold in the group event and bronze in the aero dance and mixed pair events.
The Romanian lightweight women’s double-sculls crew, made up of Ionela-Livia Lehaci and Gianina Elena Beleaga on Sunday qualified to the semi-finals of the World Rowing Championships, hosted by Sarasota – Brandenton, the United States. In the men’s double pair event, Vlad-Dragos Aicoboae and Cosmin Pascari came in third in the third heat, and will perform in Tuesday’s repechage. Romania has a total of six crews enrolled in the World Championships. On Monday the women’s four-sculls and the men’s double-sculls crews will perform in the qualifying heats.
