The 2018 edition of the Winter Olympics hosted by Pyeongchang, in South Korea, drew to a close on Sunday. Norway came first in the overall medal count, with 14 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals, followed by Germany, also with 14 gold medals, but with 10 silver and 7 bronze medals. Canada was in third place with 11 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals. The best performance from a Romanian athlete at these Winter Olympics came from Raluca Stramaturaru, who finished seventh in the women's luge singles. This was also the best result from a Romanian athlete in the Winter Olympics since 1994.

The all-Romanian pair Irina Bara and Mihaela Buzarnescu lost to the Belgian-Swedish pair Kirsten Flipkens and Johanna Larsson, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5 in the doubles semifinals of the WTA tournament in Budapest worth 226,750 dollars in prize money. Flipkens and Larsson then lost the final to the Spanish-Hungarian pair Georgina Garcia Perez and Fanny Stolar, 6-4, 4-6, 3-10.

These are CFR Cluj, who have amassed 59 points at the end of the regular season; followed by FCSB, with 55 points; Universitatea Craiova with 51 points; Astra Giurgiu and Viitorul Constanta, each with 44 points; and Poli Iasi, with 39 points. Playing in Group 2 to avoid relegation are the following teams: FC Botoşani, Dinamo Bucharest, FC Voluntari, Poli Timişoara, Concordia Chiajna, Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe, Gaz Metan Medias and Juventus Bucharest.
