The weekend's main sporting events
CFR Cluj is the second Romanian team to have got through to the finals of Romanian Football Cup. This past Thursday, CFR won its home fixture against ASA Targu Mures, 2-nil, with the game counting towards the second leg of the semifinal. The first leg of the tie ended in a blank draw.
CFR’s Cristian Bud scored twice for his team, on 17 and 70 minutes. ASA were one man shy on the pitch since Claudiu Voiculet got yellow-booked for the second time around, in minute 89. In the finals, CFR are pitted against Dinamo Bucharest. The game is scheduled on May 10, and will be venued by the National Arena in Bucharest. Dinamo’s record includes 13 Romanian Cups and played 9 finals. CFR Cluj won the Cup three times and sustained a defeat in the finals, once.
