Romania's national rugby team travels to Brussels for a fixture against the national team of Belgium. The match due on Sunday counts towards the last round of the European Rugby Champions Cup. Georgia has emerged as winner of the tournament already. Romania is 4th-placed and still has the opportunity to move up a notch in the final rankings.
In the 10th-round of the Champions League in water polo, Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest will play an away group A match against Serbian opponents Crvena Zvezda. Steaua and Zvezda are 7th and 8th-placed, respectively, in the eight-team group, the last-but-one and the last position in a group headed by the Italian team Pro Recco. Steaua Bucharest has only one win on its record sheet, namely an 8-3 victory against Crvena Zvezda, a win they grabbed in the previous round in Bucharest. The latter team has zero points on its record sheet.
Now its news from dancesport. Some 1,500 athletes from 24 countries are in Bucharest this weekend for a Great Slam round, as part of the Dancemasters competition. Dancesport has been gaining ground in Romania in recent years, with Romanian dancers reaching as far as the final in world-level competitions.
Over March 14 - 17, the president of the Romanian Cycling Federation Eduard Novak takes part in the Para-cycling Track World Championships in the Dutch town of Appeldoorn. Novak's set objective is to walk home with a medal. 42-year old Novak is the only Paralympics champion in Romanian cycling. Novak will compete in four events: 4-kilometer track, 1-kilometer individual, scratch and omnium.
We go out with news from football. Matches will be played counting towards the 2nd round of the irregular season of League One championship. In Group 1 on Friday, Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe face CSU Craiova, while on Saturday, Viitorul Constanta takes on CFR Cluj. On Sunday, also in Group 1, Astra Giurgiu is up against FCSB. In Group 2 on Saturday, Dunarea Calarasi faces Politehnica Iasi, while on Sunday, Gaz Metan Medias faces Dinamo Bucharest. The round's last matches are to be played on Monday, with Concordia Chiajna pitted against FC Hermannstadt and FC Voluntari facing FC Botosani. CFR Cluj are top of the table, with 30 points, followed by CSU Craiova with 26 and FCSB, with 25 points.
