Games counting towards the European competitions in women's handball are to be played at the weekend. A double Romanian-Danish confrontation is scheduled in the Champions League. In Group A on Saturday, CSM Bucharest play a home fixture against Team Esbjerg. CSM are 5th placed din Group A, with 11 points in 1o games, while Esbjerg are 6th-placed, with 8 points in 11 games, so the competition is tight for the two teams. In Group B on Sunday, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea face Odense, away from home. SCM are 7th-placed in their group, with a mere 4 points in 9 matches. Odense are 4th-placed, with 13 points in 12 matches.
In the European League in women's s handball, Minaur Baia Mare this coming Sunday play a home game against Russian opponents Astrahanocika. The Russian team won the first leg two weeks ago, 33-27, and are at the top of the table in their group, with 4 points in 3 matches. Minaur are 3rd-placed, with 2 points in two games. In Group D on Sunday, Dunarea Braila travel to Hungary for a game against Siofok. We recall that Dunarea sustained a 25-27 defeat two weeks ago at home. Siofok are at the top of the table, with 5 points, followed by Dunarea, with 2 points. Both teams have played three games each.
Romanian domestic football saw League One matches being played from Tuesday and all through to Thursday, counting towards the 21st round. In the opening fixture, Universitatea Craiova secured a 3-nil away win against Pol Iasi on Tuesday. On Wednesday, FC Hermannstadt and Gaz Metan Mediaș drew 1-all, Astra Giurgiu grabbed an away win against FC Voluntari, 3-1, while FCSB outclassed Dinamo Bucharest, 1-nil. On Thursday, UTA Arad snatched an away win against Academica Clinceni, 3-nil, FC Botoșani defeated Chindia Târgoviște 3-2, in Ploiesti, while CFR Cluj secured a home win against Viitorul Constanța, cu 2-1. The 21st round's last fixture, pitting FC Argeș against Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe, has been rescheduled for February 16, because of COVID-19 problems.
Matches counting towards the 22nd round will be played at the weekend. On Friday, Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe go against Poli Iași. On Saturday, Astra Giurgiu, face FC Argeș on home turf, while Universitatea Craiova play Dinamo Bucharest also at home. On Sunday, UTA Arad face Hermannstadt, Gaz Metan Mediaș take on Chindia Targoviste, while FCSB play Academica Clinceni. Round 22nd's last two fixtures are scheduled this coming Monday, as Viitorul Constanța face FC Voluntari and FC Botoșani play CFR Cluj. FCSB are still at the top of the table, with 48 points, followed by CFR Cluj, with 47.
