Tennis players Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista, Pablo Carreno, Marcel Granollers and Alejandro Davidovich make the Spanish lineup for Spain's Davis Cup match against Romania. The confrontation counts towards the qualification for the Davis Cup's final tournament. The announcement was made by the Spanish non-playing captain, Sergi Bruguera. The match is scheduled to be played in Spain's Marbella, on March the 4th and the 5th. The winning team advances to the 2022 David Cup's final stage, to be held according to a 16-team format. The teams are distributed in four groups, while the matches will be hosted by four different cities. The first two teams in descending order will then take part in the final tournament, to be hosted by a city which is still to be announced.
The match pitting Romania against Russia as part of the Rugby Europe Championship, venued by the Triumphal Arch National Rugby Stadium next Saturday, will be played in front of a full stadium. The public's access to the event will be limited to 30 per cent of the stadium's seating capacity. Measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic will also be implemented.
