La necesidad de un reglamento de este tipo naci\u00f3 en el contexto en que hab\u00eda 28 legislaciones nacionales, y la ley que reglamenta la protecci\u00f3n de datos tiene m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os de antig<em>\u00fcedad<\/em>. A partir de ahora, se aplicar\u00e1n las mismas normas para la protecci\u00f3n de datos en el caso de todas las compa\u00f1\u00edas que desarrollan actividades en la Uni\u00f3n, all\u00ed donde tengan su sede, y porque estas normas son m\u00e1s estrictas, la gente tendr\u00e1 mayor control sobre sus propios datos de car\u00e1cter personal. Las compa\u00f1\u00edas podr\u00e1n beneficiarse de unas condiciones de competencia equitativas.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>El nuevo reglamento se centra en la transparencia y la responsabilidad del operador de datos respecto a la manera en que trata los datos de car\u00e1cter personal, establece una serie de garant\u00edas espec\u00edficas para proteger de manera eficiente la vida privada de los menores de edad, especialmente en internet, consolida los derechos garantizados a las personas implicadas e introduce nuevos derechos para las personas f\u00edsicas. La jefa de la oficina jur\u00eddica y de comunicaci\u00f3n de la Autoridad Nacional de Supervisi\u00f3n del Tratamiento de Datos Personales, Alina S\u0103voiu, ha explicado:<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cComo es el derecho a ser olvidado en internet o el derecho a la portabilidad de datos. Por supuesto, toda esta reglamentaci\u00f3n tiene el objetivo de proteger a las personas f\u00edsicas, de proteger sus derechos y su vida privada, pero al mismo tiempo se centra mucho m\u00e1s en las obligaciones que tienen los operadores, tanto del sector p\u00fablico como del sector privado. Ellos son responsables de la seguridad y la confidencialidad de los datos que tienen y deben asegurar los derechos de las personas, partiendo del derecho a informarse, el derecho de oposici\u00f3n, el derecho de intervenci\u00f3n y los nuevos derechos de los que he hablado.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Otra norma del reglamento se refiere a la designaci\u00f3n de un responsable de la protecci\u00f3n de datos en el caso del operador de datos.
