Inicialmente era un lugar donde los comerciantes y sus caravanas hac\u00edan un descanso para continuar su camino y su nombre hace referencia al empresario armenio que fue su primer due\u00f1o. A mediados del siglo XIX era el complejo comercial m\u00e1s importante de Bucarest.
