The Romanian Handball Federation's Managing Board has ruled that, both in the men's and the women's version, the 2019-2020 competition season should officially draw to a close. As for the rankings, they stay the same as they were when the championship was interrupted. Men's top team, Dinamo Bucharest and women 's top team, SCM Ramnicu Valcea, were also at the top of the table when the season was interrupted. However, the two teams won't be officially granted the title. As for the Cup of Romania, the pending fixtures could be rescheduled ahead of the forthcoming season's kick-start.

The aforementioned decision sparked protests voiced by CSM Bucharest's headcoach and women players. We recall that, with one more game to play, CSM were on a par with SCM Ramnicu Valcea in terms of points. Previously, the Romanian Handball Federation had ruled that the pending match pitting AHCM Slobozia against CSM Bucureşti should be on, yet the Federation amended that decision, subsequently. SCM Ramnicu Valcea is the only team to have secured its straight qualification in the Champions League, while CSM Bucharest, jointly with Minaur Baia Mare and Gloria Buzău play in the new competition labelled the European Handball League. The Federation's managing board is set to demand a wildcard for CSM Bucharest to secure its straight participation in the Champions League, but chances to achieve that are not a hundred per cent.

Four Romanian teams play in the men's version of the European cups. Dinamo Bucharest and Potaissa Turda play in the European Hanndball League, while Minaur Baia Mare and Dobrogea Sud Constanţa play in the EHF Cup. In 2020, Dinamo had succeeded a win-all trail in their bid to go through to the Champions League's round of 16. Dinamo's following scheduled fixture was the match against Paris Saint Germain, but the European Handball Federation cancelled the round of 16 and the quarter finals. The Champions League will be closing with a four-party tournament, hosted by the city of Cologne in Germany, on December 28 and 29. Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain, Kiel and Veszprem will take part in the tournament.
