The Romanian Gymnastics Federation has a new managing board since earlier this week. The Federation's General Assembly has elected Carmencita Constantin as president. Of the 44 votes, 28 were cast in favor of Ms Constantin. Second came Ioan Suciu, with 16 votes in favor.

62-year old Carmencita Constantin was a rhythmic gymnastics performer. Throughout her career, Ms Constantin was head-coach and national as well as international referee for aerobic gymnastics. She was a member of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation's Executive Committee, and a member of the Aerobic Gymnastics technical Commission. At present, Carmencita Constantin is the general manager of a private company. She has been in management for 22 years now. According to Agerpres news agency, Carmencita Constantin had a seven-year stint as Romania's representative with the European Commission's Energy, Environment and European Funds Department. Ms Constantin's contender, Ioan Suciu, was a many-time European champion, also winning medals in world and Olympic artistic gymnastics championships.

Carmencita Constantin' term in office is valid until 2021, when election sessions will again be held for the position of president of the Gymnastic Federation, for a four-year term. In the aforementioned top management position, Carmencita Constantin is in for Andreea Raducan. The latter handed in her resignation in December 2019, on account of the national gymnastics teams' failing to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Ms Raducan also rued the lack of support from the Executive Committee at decision-making level. Former world and Olympic champion Andreea Raducan had been at the helm of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation since August 4, 2017.
