Romania’s men’s handball champions Dinamo Bucharest drew, 26 - 26, against the German side Füchse Berlin, in Group B of the EHF European League. The Romanian team had an outstanding end of match, with 3 goals scored in the last 2 minutes, from 23-26 up to 26-all, after Füchse had had the game tight in their grip for most of the time, from the very beginning.

 

The match was played in Bucharest. For Dinamo, the best scorer was Răzvan Gavriloaia, with 7 goals. For the opponents, Hans Lindberg scored the most goals, 5. The week before, in Germany, Füchse had won 33 - 29.

 

Also in Group B, on Wednesday the French side Nîmes outplayed at home the Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon, 27 - 24, while Kristianstad of Sweden won 27 – 22 in Slovakia, against Tatran Presov.

 

In the group standings, Kristianstad ranks first with 8 points in 6 games, followed by Füchse Berlin, with 7 points in 4 matches. Dinamo comes 5th, with 3 points in 5 games.

 

We move on to volleyball and look at the European women’s competitions. CSM Târgovişte closed their performance in the European Volleyball Confederation Cup, after losing the quarter-finals to the French side Béziers Angels, 3-0 on Wednesday in Zagreb.

 

In the eighth-finals of the CEV Cup on Tuesday, CSM Târgovişte had defeated the host team, Mladost Zagreb, 3-0, while Béziers Angels moved up as another French team, Volero Le Cannet, was prevented by COVID-19 infections to play in the competition.

 

In men’s volleyball, in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals in Milan, Dinamo Bucharest was outplayed by the Italian team Allianz Powervolley Milan, 3-0. In the 8th-finals on Tuesday, Dinamo had beat the Bulgarian team Dupnitsa 3-0, and Allianz Powervolley Milan won 3-0 against Kamnik from Slovenia. (tr. A.M. Popescu)
