The AEK Athens’ midfielder, Razvan Marin, was among the Romanian footballers who compelled recognition in the European Cups last week

Most of the footballers part of Romania’s national lineup are playing for football sides abroad. And one of these excellent footballers is mid-fielder Razvan Marin who got transferred from the Italian side Empoli to the Greek side AEK Athens this year.
The Romanian has already compelled recognition with AEK after scoring a major goal for his side, which brought him the Athlete of the Week title Radio Romania grants to the best Romanian performance of late.
In the third preliminary round of the European football tournament, Conference League, AEK was facing Aris Limassol of Cyprus. The first match between the two sides ended in a two-all draw, but in the second game, Razvan Marin put AEK in the lead by converting a penalty shot in the 51st minute. Aris leveled the scoring 11 minutes later also through a penalty shot but AEK scored twice in the extra time and qualified for the play-off. Worth noting is the fact that Razvan Marin was on the pitch the entire match.
Răzvan Marin was born in Bucharest on May 23, 1996. His father was a footballer in the first Romanian league playing for sides like Sportul Studenţesc, FC Naţional or Steaua Bucharest and has won nine caps for the country’s national side. A chip off the old block Răzvan took up football at Bucharest-based side Pro Luceafarul; he continued with Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy and made his debut in major football competitions with Viitorul Constanta where he played from 2013 until 2017. He was next transferred to Standard Liege of Belgium and later went to Ajax Amsterdam, which eventually lent him to the Italian side Cagliari. From Cagliari he went to Empoli and eventually to the Greek side AEK Athens
He won his first cap with the Romanian national football side in August 2016 for a game against Montenegro in the preliminaries of World Cup 2018. Two months later he played against Armenia, a game the Romanians won 5-0, one goal scored by him. He has played 68 times for the Romanian side for which he scored 12 goals.
