With only 189 favourable votes and 23 negative votes, out of a total of 212 cast votes, the Veștea cabinet failed to secure the needed 233 votes to be sworn in.
Under the Constituion, the Romanian President should invite the parliamentary parties for a new round of consultations before nominating a new candidate to form the government.
Adrian Veștea said on Monday evening that he approached the formation of the government with responsibility and pointed out that he joined this project with good intentions. I considered it necessary to respond to this challenge, and I am sorry it could not materialize, Veștea said in Parliament.
