MAE The Foreign Ministry in Bucharest (MAE) has cautioned the Romanian citizens transiting and traveling to Iran than the security situation in that country is extremely volatile and unpredictable after the attacks on Friday. Taking into account the higher risk of military escalation, the Ministry strongly recommends the Romanian citizens to avoid trips to Iran in the following period and leave the Iranian territory by means of the available commercial buses and other safe means; it also recommends they monitor the updates provided by local and international authorities. The Romanian citizens can apply for assistance at the Consular Section in Tehran at the number +98 21 77 64 75 70 or at email: teheran.consul@mae.ro. The Romanian Foreign Ministry is monitoring the situation in the region and will be constantly updating its travel alerts, says its latest press release. On Friday Israel launched a series of attacks against Iran, which it suspects of trying to develop nuclear weapons. The attacks targeted nuclear facilities and killed the head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the regime’s ideological army. The attacks come at a time when the talks between the USA and Iran on the latter’s nuclear programme are in a deadlock. According to Bucharest diplomacy, there is a risk of retaliatory attacks from Iran and the Romanian citizens in Israel are advised to try to remain in the vicinity of bomb shelters.
