BLOUSE – Today is the international day of the peasant blouse, celebrated since 2013. Six years ago, an on-line community formed called La Blouse Roumaine, in order to promote the traditional Romanian peasant blouse. The name comes from a painting by Henri Matisse, which made the traditional garb famous all over the world. It occasions fairs and events dedicated to it, and is set on a traditional Romanian holiday, Sanziene, which coincides with the Christian Orthodox holiday of the birth of St. John the Baptist, marking the beginning of astronomical summer.

FOOTBALL — Romania meets France in the deciding game for the semi-finals in the Under 21 football championships, in the last game of Group C, taking place in Italy and San Marino. The elections were rerun after the results of the first round were contested by the majority Justice and Development Party, and canceled by election authorities. Reuters pointed out that Erdogans party has been holding the mayors seat in Istanbul for 25 years, and that the defeat is seen as a blow against the president, himself a former mayor of Istanbul.
