Romania has left the World Women’s Handball Championships. Ovidiu Mihaila’s trainees came third in the main group and blew their chances to a place in the quarter finals. Out of their group Denmark and Hungary, the two sides that outperformed Romania, will go farther in the competition.

In their last two matches in the aforementioned competition, Romania outperformed Senegal 37-17 and Switzerland 36-24. Romania has thus ranked 9th in the standings, which is the best performance of the Romanian women’s handball in the past 10 years. The best Romanian player in the competition proved to be Sorina Grozav with 46 goals scored.

We continue with rugby. The Romanian Wolves selection was outperformed by Portuguese side Lusitanos 35-7 in Bucharest on Saturday. The game counted towards the last but one leg of Rugby Europe Super Cup. Ştefan Rareş Mîrzac scored a try for the Wolves in the 73rd minute, which was converted by Ştefan Cojocariu. The Portuguese fifteen scored five tries and converted three in a game, which was the last in the career of Florin Surugiu, the skipper of the Romanian Wolves.

Spanish side Castilla y Leon tops the competition with 20 points, whereas the Romanians, at the bottom of the ranking with no points, will be taking on Brussels Devils on December 13th.

Last weekend saw the 19th leg of the Romanian Football Superleague. On Friday in Galati, local side, Otelul, outperformed  Unirea Slobozia 3-0. On Saturday, FC Argeş clinched a 2-0 win against Csikszereda in an away game, while archrivals FCSB and Dinamo ended in a goaless draw their match on the National Arena in Bucharest.
