The strikers summoned for the national team are Bogdan Stancu (Genclerbirligi), Florin Andone (Deportivo La Coruña), Claudiu Keşeru (Ludogorets Razgrad) and Denis Alibec (Astra Giurgiu).

In a fixture counting towards the 9th round of domestic League One in football, Poli Iasi defeated Pandurii Targu Jiu, 3-2, while Viitorul from Constanta held Dinamo Bucharest to a 1-all draw. On Wednesday, Universitatea Craiova grabbed a 1-nil win in their fixture against FC Voluntari, while Concordia Chiajna sustained a 2-nil defeat against FC Botosani on home turf. On Thursday, Gaz Metan Medias go against Poli Timisoara, ASA Targu Mures take on Astra Giurgiu, while Steaua Bucharest face CFR Cluj.
