Universitatea
Craiova lost the away fixture against FC Botosani, 1-2, yet they secured their
qualification thanks to the 5-1 first leg win they grabbed on home turf.

On
Thursday, in the second semifinal game, Gaz Metan Medias are pitted against AFC
Hermannstadt. In the first leg, AFC Hermannstadt Sibiu clinched a 1-nil home
win. The Romania’s Cup finals have been scheduled for May 27th and
will be hosted by the National Arena in Bucharest.

The
friendly game pitting Romania’s national squad against Finland, to be played on
May 5th, will be hosted by the Ilie Oană stadium in Ploieşti, a town in
southern Romania. According to the president of the Romanian Football
Federation Razvan Burleanu, the decision has been made taking into account the
fact that the Romanian national team’s first game in the League of Nations will
also be hosted by the aforementioned stadium in Ploiesti.

Romania’s national squad will be
playing their debut fixture against the team of Montenegro, on September 7th.
The game will be played behind closed doors as the result of a sanction placed
by UEFA. On September 10th, Romania will take on Serbia in an away
game. On October 11th, Romania will play a fixture against
Lithuania, also away from home, while on October 14th, the national
squad will be up against Serbia, this time in a home match. On November 17th,
Romania takes on Lithuania on home turf, while on November the 20th,
Romania faces Montenegro again.

At a press conference, Razvan
Burleanu has also made public the fact that he intends to have the number of
first leaguers increase from 14 to 16. Burleanu went on to say the new system
would be implemented starting with the 2020-2021 season. Four Division B teams
would be promoted directly, while the 5th team will be promoted
through playoffs.

The Group1/Group 2 system will be
kept in place, but the team at the top of the table in group 2 will be granted
the chance to fight for a place in Europa League, through a playoff game
against the team at the bottom of the table that makes it to Europa League.
