The Romanian football club Dinamo Bucharest is up for sale.

The Romanian football club Dinamo Bucharest is now for sale. The majority stockholder, Ionut Negoita, said it was time he sold his shares in the club. Negoita wants 2 million Euro for his claim in the club, adding to which are another 2 million Euro that Negoita still owes businessman Nicolae Badea, a former club shareholder. Negoita has told the press his decision to leave the club is now irreversible, adding that he plans to sell some of its top players, such as Steliano Filip and Ionut Nedelcearu, the former being a regular of Romania’s under-21 and under-18 national teams. Moreover, several years ago Negoita apparently reached an agreement to transfer Valentin Costache to CFR Cluj, Agrepres news agency reports. The deal will be struck during the winter break of regular season.

Businessman Ionut Negoita became a stockholder at FC Dinamo in August 2012, when he bought the share package previously owned by Cristian Borcea. Over the next years Negoita became a majority shareholder, growing to own 90% of the club in March 2013, after buying the shares of another two important stockholders. Some media sources have tied the fate of FC Dinamo to a group of Norwegian investors, who’ve declared an interest in the club. None of Romania’s business people have so far announced any plans of taking over Dinamo.

FC Dinamo Bucharest was set up in 1948, under the administration of the Interior Ministry. Given its impressive track record, Dinamo is now the second most prestigious football club in Romania, with 18 championship trophies, 13 Romanian Cups and 2 Super Cups. At European level, Dinamo’s highest achievement is the 1984 semi-finals of the European Champions Cup.
