FCSB lost, on Tuesday, the match played in the second preliminary round of the Champions League.

In the second preliminary round of the Champions League, the first leg, FCSB was defeated away by the North Macedonian team Shkëndija with 1-0. The home team’s goal was scored in the 65th minute by the Nigerian Adamu Alhassan. From the 71st minute, the Macedonian champion played in 10 after the elimination of the Albanian Kamer Qaka, for a dangerous entry into Marius Ştefănescu. Eight minutes later, equality was restored, after Florin Tănase saw a red card following a harsh intervention on the Albanian Liridon Latifi. Throughout the match, FCSB missed many big opportunities to score, but in the end, the decisive man for the Bucharest team was goalkeeper Ştefan Târnovanu, who saved his team on several occasions. The decisive match will take place in Bucharest, next Wednesday, on the National Arena.
Three other Romanian teams will play on Thursday. In the second preliminary round of the Europa League, the first leg, CFR Cluj will play away against the Swiss team Lugano. The Transylvanians come after a draw in the Super League, 1 to 1, in Bucharest, on the field of Rapid, a team with European ambitions for this season. The other team from Cluj, in European competitions, will also play away. In the first leg of the second preliminary round of the third continental competition, the UEFA Conference League, Universitatea Cluj will meet the Armenian team Ararat, away, in Yerevan. The match is scheduled on a stadium with only 1,400 seats.
Just like CFR, Universitatea is also coming off a 1-1 draw in the Super League, a result recorded at home, with UTA Arad. The other team representing Romania in the Conference League, Universitatea Craiova, will play in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with FK Sarajevo. The stadium where the match will take place hosted the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in 1984. Before the game with the Bosnian team, on Friday, in the Romanian first division, the Universitatea Craiova beat the newly promoted FC Argeş 3-1 at home. (EE)
