The Romanian tennis player Sorana Cîrstea Wednesday qualified for the round of 16 of the WTA 250 tournament hosted by the French city of Rouen. In the first round of the competition, she beat Fiona Ferro (France), 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. Also on Wednesday, in the round of 16, Jaqueline Cristian was defeated by Katie Boulter (UK), 7-6, 4-6, 6-1.
After 4 games in the final of the regional ice hockey competition Erste Liga, ACSH Gheorgheni is ahead of Corona Brașov 3-1. In the first match, a week ago, ACSH won in Brașov, 4-3. The final of Romania’s women’s volleyball championship will be played between the teams Alba Blaj and CSO Voluntari. In the semifinals, on Tuesday, CSO won 3-2 in the last leg of the round against Dinamo Bucharest, which they won 2-1 overall. On Wednesday, Alba Blaj defeated Corona Brașov at home, 3-0, taking the overall score to 2-1. Alba Blaj will play the championship final for the 12th time in a row.
The men’s championship is just before the semis phase. To reach the last stage of the competition, the defending champions Dinamo Bucharest will face Steaua, and Arcada Galați will take on SCM Zalău.
