Romanian handball side Dinamo Bucharest secured a
dramatic 29-28 win against Croatian team PPD Zagreb on Wednesday in an away
game counting towards the group A of the Champions League. Ukrainian Andrii
Akimenko scored the victory goal for the Romanian champions through a 7-meter
throw in the game’s last second, while Nicusor Negru scored the largest number
of goals for his side, 7. This has been Dinamo’s second win in the present
edition of the league. In Group A, they are ranking 6th, five points
out of six matches.

Now let’s have a look at women’s handball competitions
where the Romanian national side ended in a 29-all draw the game they played on
Wednesday against Germany during their training campaign in Hungary. The best
Romanian scorer was Cristina Neagu with 11 goals scored. The match was
Romania’s last test before the European Championships due to kick off in
Slovenia, Montenegro and North Macedonia on Friday.

The Romanian men’s basketball side SCM ”U” Craiova has
qualified for the second stage of FIBA Europe Cup. On Wednesday in Ploiesti,
southern Romania, SCM secured a 74-60 win against the other Romanian side in
Group H, CSO Voluntari. SCM has so far won all the four games they have played
in FIBA Europe Cup and a new win would secure their first position in the
group. In the other game of group H, German side Merlins Crailsheim obtained a
95-64 win against Norrkoping Dolphins of Sweden.

Also in FIBA Europe Cup, in group E, CSM CSU Oradea clinched
a 77-69 home win against French side Cholet Basket. This has been CSM’s third win
in a row after a bad start against the French. Also on Wednesday, Belgian side
Kangoeroes Mechelen obtained a home win against Bulgarian team Rilski Sportist
Samokov, 105 – 74. Oradea and Mechelen are heading the group, each with 7
points being followed by Cholet with 6 and Samokov with 4.

In EuroCup, Group A, U-BT Cluj-Napoca has been
outperformed by Lithuanian side Lietkabelis Panevėžys, 89-84. This has been the
Romanian’s second defeat in a row and their third in this EuroCup season. With
a win and three defeats, Cluj ranks ninth in the group, which is the last but
one position.
