Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian has qualified to the round of 32 at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year. In the second round, Cristian defeated Czech player Sara Bejlek in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. For a place in the round of 16, the Romanian will take on Poland’s Iga Swiatek. Reaching the third round at the French Open for the first time, Jaqueline Cristian has matched her personal best in a Grand Slam tournament, set in January, at the Australian Open.
At the European Rowing Championships, hosted by Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Romania is represented by 12 crews. The competition will end on Sunday. At the last edition of the continental competition, held last year in Szeged, Hungary, Romania came in second in the medal standings, after Great Britain, with eight medals, of which four gold, two silver and two bronze.
After the end of the Romanian Football Super League championship, most players went on holiday, except for those called up to the national team for the games in June. At Universitatea Craiova, the team ranked 3rd at the end of the championship, the holiday ends on June 15, when players will meet again for the start of the summer training campaign. The medical exam will take place on the 16th, followed by a training camp in Austria. On June 18, the team will find out their opponents in the second preliminary round of European Conference League, which will take place on July 24 and 31.

On Wednesday, in the Conference League final, the 2024 – 2025 edition, held in Wroclaw, Poland, the English team Chelsea defeated the Spanish side Betis Sevilla 4-1.
