On Wednesday, Romania’s basketball side U-BT Cluj-Napoca conceded defeat to Israeli side Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem, 114-104, in an away match of the EuroCup, Group A. The Romanian champions suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in all competitions and the third in a row in the EuroCup. With one stage before the end of the group stage, the Romanian side occupies the 6th place. The first two teams in each group qualify directly for the quarterfinals, and the next four sides will join a play-off to access the quarterfinals. U-BT will be playing Aris Salonic in a week, the team in the 7th place, in a decisive match for the play-off.
The Transylvania Open women’s tennis tournament, a WTA 250 competition with a prize pool of 283,000 dollars, continues in Cluj. The last two games of the round, on Thursday: Universitatea Craiova vs. Oţelul Galaţi and FCSB vs. AFC Botoşani. Rapid and Dinamo lead the standings, with the same number of points, 48. Universitatea Craiova follows, two points behind.
