Weightlifter Valentina Cambei won three gold medals at the European U23 Weightlifting Championships.

The European Junior and U23 Weightlifting Championships are taking place in Durrës, Albania, these days. On the very first day of the competition, Mihaela Valentina Cambei won three gold medals in the 53 kilogram category, in the competitions for athletes under 23 years. On Tuesday, Romania also obtained three bronze medals in the junior competitions. Two were won by Narcis Papolți, in the snatch and in the total, in the 60 kilogram category competitions. The third medal came from the girls’ competition in the 53 kilogram category, obtained by Alexia Diana Șipoș, in the clean and jerk. On Wednesday, also in the juniors’ event, in the women’s competition in the 58 kilogram category, Dana Berchi won the silver medal in the snatch and bronze in the clean and jerk and in the total, and in the boys’ competition, in the 65 kilograms category, Daniel Dorobete got the silver in the snatch.

Now news from volleyball. Dinamo Bucharest qualified for the second preliminary round of the Champions League for men. On Tuesday, the Romanian champions defeated the North Macedonian team Strumica 3-0, at home, in the second leg of the first preliminary round. Dinamo also won the first match, the score also 3-0. In the women’s competition, CSM Lugoj defeated the Dutch team Friso Sneek, on Wednesday, away from home, score 3-0 in the first leg of the Challenge Cup preliminary round. The second leg will be played on November 5. If they get past Friso Sneek, CSM Lugoj will play in the round of 32 against the German team Potsdam.

Now basketball. In a Group I match of the FIBA ​​EuroCup women’s basketball competition, Rapid Bucharest defeated the Slovak team Piešťanské Čajky away from home, score 71-61.
