The European Womens Handball Championship is underway in France. In Group D, Romania has joined the Czech Republic, Germany and European defending champions, Norway. This past Saturday, in Brest, the Romanian national squad outclassed the similar team of the Czech Republic, 31-28. The win was the revenge Romania took for last years defeat in the World Championships round of 16. In Group Ds other game, also on Saturday, Germany grabbed a surprising 33-32 win against Norway. On Monday, Romania takes on Germany, while the Czech Republic faces Norway.

The European Womens Handball Championship is underway in France. In Group D, Romania has joined the Czech Republic, Germany and European defending champions, Norway. This past Saturday, in Brest, the Romanian national squad outclassed the similar team of the Czech Republic, 31-28. The win was the revenge Romania took for last years defeat in the World Championships round of 16. In Group Ds other game, also on Saturday, Germany grabbed a surprising 33-32 win against Norway. On Monday, Romania takes on Germany, while the Czech Republic faces Norway.



In a Champions League fixture, Dinamo Bucharest has emerged at the top of the table in Group D. In the final part of the group stage, Romanias champion team has amassed 14 points, standing on a par with the runner-up team, Polands Wisla Plock. Direct fixtures results provided Dinamos advantage in the final rankings. In the playoffs, Dinamo is pitted against Portuguese contenders Sporting Lisbon in late February 2019.



In this past Saturdays drawing of lots in Dublin, Romania found its adversaries in the EURO 2020 Qualifying Tournament. The teams are Spain, Sweden, Norway, Faeroe Islands and Malta. Romanias debut fixture is the away game against Sweden on March 23, 2019. Our national squad will play its first game at home against the Faeroe Islands, on March 26. Romanias EURO 2020 campaign ends with two nail-biting games, the home fixture against Sweden on November 15 and the away confrontation against Spain on November 18.



This past weekend saw games being played, counting towards domestic League One Championships 17th round. On Friday, CFR Cluj trounced FC Voluntari on home turf, 5-nil. Romanian national squad striker George Tucudean succeeded a hat-trick. Also on Friday in Iasi, the match pitting the local side Poli and Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe ended in a 1-all draw. On Saturday in Targu Mures, FC Hermannstadt defeated Concordia Chiajna, 2-1, while in the south-eastern town of Ovidiu, Viitorul Constanta secured a 4-1 win against Dinamo Bucharest. On Sunday in the southern Romanian city of Craiova, the local side Universitatea won the game against Dunarea Calarasi, 1-nil, while in Pitesti, FCSB grabbed a 2-1 win against Gaz Metan Medias. The last game of round 17 is scheduled on Monday, as Astra Giurgiu take on AFC Botosani. CFR Cluj are at the top of the table, with 36 points, while FCSB are 2nd placed with 34.
