The Netherlands has won the World
Handball Cup hosted by Japan after defeating Spain 30-29 in the final. In the bronze
final, Russia defeated Norway 33-28. In the pre-Olympic tournament Romania will
thus play Montenegro, Norway and North Korea.

In men’s handball, let us note that

Constanta, Dinamo Bucharest, Politehnica Timisoara and CSM Bacau. In the
quarterfinals on Saturday, Dobrogea Sud defeated 38-31 CSM Alexandria. On
Sunday, Dinamo grabbed a 36-28 win over Potaissa Turda, while Poli won 24-21

The Romanian men’s ice hockey team
moved on to the third preliminary phase for the 2022 Winter Olympics in
Beijing. Romania won Group K in the second preliminary phase, following Sunday’s
10-1 win against Iceland in a match hosted by the Olympic Ice Rink in Brasov. In
the other group fixture, Kirgizstan won 5-4 against Israel following stoppage
time. In the final standings Romania ranked first with 9 points, followed by
Iceland with 6 points, Kirgizstan with 2 points and Israel with 1 point. Romania
will thus play in Group J in the final preliminary phase and will compete in
Nottingham over February 6-9, alongside Great Britain, Estonia and Hungary.
