We begin with the latest from
women’s handball, as this past Sunday, Romania’s national squad grabbed a 25-20
away win against the Faeroe Islands. The fixture counted towards Group 7 as
part of the European Championships preliminaries, the 2020 edition. Romania’s
top scorer was Eliza Buceschi, with six goals on her record sheet. In Group 7,
Poland and Romania are on an equal footing, with 4 points, yet Poland has a
better goal average. Ukraine and the Faeroe Islands have zero points on their
record sheet. Romania’s next scheduled fixture is the match against Poland, to
be played in March next year, away from home.

In news from ice hockey, in an Erste
Liga match, Romania’s Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc grabbed a 4-1 win against
Hungarian opponent Hokiklub Budapest. Also in Erste Liga, CSM Corona Brasov
snatched a 9-4 away win against ACSH Gheorghieni, with the fixture also
counting towards Romania’s National Championship. At the top of the table in
Erste Liga regional competition is Hungarian team Dunaujvarosi Acelbikak, with
18 points in 6 games. Following are Ferencvaros Budapest, with 18 points in 8
games and Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc, with 15 points in 6 fixtures.
Fourth-placed is Corona from Brasov, with 13 points in 7 matches. In Romania’s
National Championship, Corona is at the top of the table, with 13 points in 5
games. Sports Club Miercurea Ciuc is the runner-up team, with 8 points in 4
matches.

Time now for news from football. Romanian
defender Stefan Radu, currently plying for Lazio Rome, this past Sunday scored
a goal for his team that grabbed a 4-nil win against Genoa, in a fixture
counting towards Serie A’s 6th round. Another Romanian, Ionut Radu,
was Genoa’s goal keeper. Claudiu Keseru, Bulgarian side’s Ludogoretz Razgrad’s
Romanian footballer, scored the only goal that sealed the 1-nil away win Ludogoretz
grabbed against Dunav Ruse, in a match counting towards Bulgarian domestic championship’s
11th round.

We go out with the latest from domestic
football, as this past weekend saw matches being played, counting towards the
11th round of League One’s championship. On Friday, Dinamo Bucharest
secured a 2-1 home win against FC Voluntari. On Saturday in Targu Mures, FC
Botosani won the game against FC Hermannstandt, 1-nil, while in the southern
Romanian town of Ploiesti, Chindia Targoviste grabbed a 1-nil win against Astra
Giurgiu. On Sunday, FCSB thrashed Academica Clinceni in Calarasi, 3-nil, while
also 3-nil was the score of the home game pitting CFR Cluj against Gaz Metan
Medias. On Monday, in round 11’s last
two fixtures, Poli Iasi take on Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe and Universitatea Craiova
faces Viitorul Constanta. CFR Cluj is at the top of the table according to
the current rankings, with 24 points, followed by Viitorul Constanta, with 21
points.
