A new round in the Women’s Handball Champions League takes place this weekend. The three teams representing Romania in the competition have so far played five games each. In the sixth round, Rapid Bucharest, which is part of Group B, is the first to come into action. On Saturday, they will take on the French Brest Bretagne on home turf. Currently, Rapid is the penultimate in the group (7th), with 3 points. The French team is in 2nd place, with 8 points. The first two teams topping the ranks at the end of the group stage will go to the quarter-finals, and the teams in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th places will play in the play-off to reach the quarterfinals. The groups on the 7th and 8th places will leave the League.

The Romanian teams from Group A will be performing on Sunday. Gloria Bistriţa-Năsăud will play in Norway, against Storhamar. The two teams are neighbours in the standings. The Scandinavians are in 5th place, with 3 points, and Gloria, in 6th place, with 2 points. CSM Bucharest, the best Romanian team at the moment, will face Metz at home. The French team is the only one in the group that has not been defeated yet and, consequently, occupies the first place, with 9 points. CSM is part of the group that comes immediately after the French champion, one point away, together with Ferencvaros and Krim Ljubljana. The Romanian team beat the Slovenians last week, and they will play against the Hungarian team on November 10. It must also be said that the meeting with Metz gives CSM the opportunity to take revenge for the defeat in the quarter-finals of the last edition of the League.

Also this weekend, matches are scheduled in the Romanian Super league in football, counting for the 13th stage. Two matches are scheduled for Friday: Gloria Buzău with Hermannstadt and Universitatea Cluj with Oţelul Galati. On Saturday, Sepsi OSK faces UTA in Sfântu Gheorghe, and Petrolul takes on CFR Cluj in Ploiesti. In the first match of Sunday, Universitatea Craiova and FC Botoşani will face each other on the latter’s home turf. The evening will end with the classic derby of Romanian football, between the Bucharest teams Dinamo and FCSB, formerly known as Steaua.

Monday will see the last two games of the stage: Poli Iaşi with Unirea Slobozia and Rapid Bucharest with Farul Constanţa. Before this round, Universitatea Cluj is first ranked, with 23 points. Next is Craiova, with 20.
