Sports Weekend
This weekend will see a top football match pitching two top sides of Romania’s first football league. On Sunday, in Craiova southern Romania, local side Universitatea will be up against Rapid Bucharest

This weekend will see the matches of the sixth leg of the Champions League in women’s handball. Both Romanian sides are playing on Sunday. In Group A, Gloria Bistrita will be up against Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro in an away match.
Gloria ranks third in the standings with 6 points, after Gyor and Metz, each with 10 points and which are to take on each other in Hungary on Saturday.
Buducnost is on the last place with no points yet. In Group B, CSM Bucharest will be playing Danish side Odense. The Romanian champions, who aren’t actually in their best shape, come only 6th in the group’s rankings with four points after two wins and three defeats. Odense is second with 7 points. The first two sides in each group will be playing in the quarter finals, while the sides on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions will be playing tie matches for a place in the quarters.
This weekend will be seeing the matches of the 15th leg of the first Romanian football league, known as the Superleague. Only one game on Friday: Dynamo Bucharest versus CFR Cluj on the National Arena in Bucharest.
On Saturday in Clinceni, southern Romania, Unirea Slobozia will be playing FC Argeș, which have also played in Romania’s Cup and secured a 3-2 win against Bucharest side Metaloglobus. Also on Saturday, Universitatea Cluj will be meeting on their own turf FCSB. Three matches are due on Sunday. The first in Arad will be pitching the local side UTA against Metaloglobus. In Sibiu, central Romania, local side FC Hermannstadt will be up against Otelul Galați and the day will end with the match pitching the top sides Rapid and Universitatea Craiova.
The leg’s last matches are due on Monday, when Farul Constanța takes on Csikszereda and Petrolul Ploiești plays FC Botoșani, which tops the table with the same number of points as Rapid, the side on the second position.
