The progressive relaxation measures will be adjusted to the specificity of every field of activity, said the inter-ministerial committee on the return to normality starting June 1, 2021. This also applies to the information campaign on vaccination, which has been expanded, in a bid to ease the access to vaccines for as many people as possible. Proposals for the staging pilot cultural events were made on Wednesday by representatives of relevant organisations, events which the Romanian Association of Municipalities is willing to host. The progressive opening of the hospitality industry was also discussed, as the vaccination campaign continues. The proposed measures will be assessed by technical working groups, on fields of activity. Economy, healthcare, labor and social protection, transports and infrastructure, education and research, sports and culture are the main sectors.

The mass vaccination campaign unfolds smoothly at the moment, and there are sufficient doses to reach the target of 5 million people vaccinated until June, so that the immunization rate allows us to return to normal, said the Governments Secretary General, Tiberiu Horatiu Gorun. Romanian authorities have partially changed their vaccination strategy, with the purpose of drawing as many people as possible, and of making vaccines highly accessible. Thus, alongside the online information platform, drive-through vaccination centers and vaccination marathons have been set up, where people who want to get vaccinated only need to present their ID card. For people living in remote and less-accessible areas, mobile vaccination teams have been set up.

General practitioners will receive more money to immunize patients in their medical facilities, while employers can have employees and their families vaccinated in their own offices. In this respect, a medical network has already launched its own vaccination offer directly at the companies’ headquarters, making available their mobile medical teams, thus supporting the authorities’ efforts to fight the pandemic. The first beneficiaries are large employers in Brasov and Cluj.

The Government is also preparing an extensive awareness raising campaign to involve artists, athletes and politicians, after people’s interest in getting the vaccine seems to have decreased lately. On the other hand, a report published by a special anti-disinformation team in Brussels says that Russia and China conducted campaigns meant to undermine public trust in the vaccines approved by the EU, in the European institutions and in the European vaccination strategies.
