With cookouts, fireworks, parades and other events, on July 4th, Americans celebrated 250 years since the moment in 1776, when the Continental Congress formally approved the Declaration of Independence for the 13 British colonies in North America. In his address at Mount Rushmore, the emblematic monument devoted to the founding fathers, the White House leader has described the USA as a country that never gives up and never fails. “The birth and survival of the American nation under God is quite simply the best and most incredible thing to happen on this planet by human hands ever,” says Donald Trump who celebrated America’s exceptionalism of America and its quality as a world leader.
“Romanians are proud of standing alongside America as an ally, a friend, and a partner committed to the values that unite us across the Atlantic,” says the congratulation message conveyed by Romania’s embassy in Washington. In a Facebook post, the embassy mentions that ‘this anniversary in not only a tribute to the birth of a nation, but also to the enduring power of the ideals that have shaped it for 250 years: freedom, courage, democracy, and the belief that a better future can be built through vision and determination.’
‘For Romania, it is also an opportunity to celebrate a friendship and strategic partnership with the United States that has grown stronger with every generation’, the message also says.
An editorial recently published by a conservative American media outlet, quotes Romania’s President Nicusor Dan as saying: “This anniversary is a moment to recognize the deep and enduring bond, rooted in shared values, sacrifice and strategic alignment, with countries such as my own, Romania, that stand for freedom and opportunity.”
The head of the Romanian state earlier attended the reception staged in advance by the US embassy in Bucharest where he described the US Declaration of independence as a historic landmark.
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the US Independence, the US ambassador in Bucharest, Darryl Nirenberg, invited Romania to join Freedom 250, the initiative through which the United States is promoting its founding ideals, freedom, democracy and independence at a global level.”
“This July I hope Romania will join the United States in celebrating our founding fathers, honoring the enduring friendship between the American and Romanian people, and empowering the next generation to carry forward the cause of liberty throughout the world,” the US diplomat says in his message.
