Romanian fencer Emma Sont walked away with bronze from the European Under-23 Fencing Championship in Italy

Romania’s female volleyball side CSO Voluntari have won their second title of Romania’s champions after securing a 3-1 win against Alba Blaj in the finals. The finals took place under the best out of five matches system. We should also mention that Alba is the winner of Romania’s Cup.
The European Under-23 Fencing Championship has ended in Cagliari, Sardinia. Romania’s representatives managed good shows but walked away with only one medal by Emma Şonţ, who became bronze medalist in the epee event. Romania’s female team was also very close to the podium in Cagliari. The team made up of Catinca Dumitru, Amalia Covaliu, Anastasia Fusea, Alexandra Mitruș, secured a 45-32 win against Hungary in the quarterfinals but lost the semis to Italy with the same scoring. They also lost to Bulgaria in a match counting towards the third position, 45 – 41.
Let’s have a look at the latest from ice hockey now. During the World Ice-hockey Championship in Shenzhen, China, Romania managed to secure a 7-0 win against the Netherlands. They will be up against the host country, China. On May 2, our players will be up against Spain and play Estonia a day later. On May 5th, Romania will have their last match against South Korea. The first side in the ranking will advance to Division one, Group A, which is the second echelon of the world hockey
We end with table tennis. At the world championships in London, Romania’s male side secured a 3-nil win against Benin on Tuesday, and outperformed Argentina with the same score a day later. Romania will take on Peru on Thursday. In the women’s contest, Romania’s side will be playing the world’s best teams in Group one. On Saturday, our athletes will be playing China and South Korea and will take on Taiwan on Sunday.
