LEGAL — Romanias Constitutional Court delayed for Thursday the debate on a possible legal conflict between Parliament and the Court of Cassation and Justice on judicial panels specialized in corruption. The motion was filed by the deputy speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Florin Iordache, during the time when the former speaker, Liviu Dragnea, delegated to him his attributions. On Wednesday, Iordache claimed that the High Court refused to form expert panels for corruption, ignoring the law, which mandated them.



BRUSSELS- Romanian President Klaus Iohannis takes part on Wednesday in Brussels in the meeting of the European Council, dominated by the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union. According to Radio Romanias correspondent in Brussels, EU leaders are debating the request made by PM Theresa May to delay the Brexit until June 30, as well as the proposal made by EC President Donald Tusk to extend by a year the process, with the option of leaving earlier if the Parliament in London ratifies the agreement. Head negotiator Michel Barnier said that this new delay would be extended depending on the plan that the British leader submits to European leaders.



WASHINGTON — The president of the Romanian Senate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu met in Washington on Tuesday the US vice-president Mike Pence and his national security adviser Keith Kellogg. Tariceanu highlighted the major role Romania plays in adjusting and implementing measures of defense and determent in NATO’s eastern flank and pleaded for strengthening through diversification the Romania-USA political-dialogue, as well as for boosting the US economic and strategic presence on Romania’s territory. The president of the Romanian Senate has invited the US Vice President to pay a formal visit to Romania.

LABOR – Romania tops the charts in the EU for equality of opportunity for men and women, with a difference in wages of only 3.5%, while the EU average stands at 15%, said Minister of Labor and Social Equality Marius Budai, at the informal meeting of line ministers of the EU. He said that this issue was a priority for Romania as the country holding the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The minister specified that, within three months, Romania reached all its four aims for Union citizens, providing better and safer work conditions, ensuring labor mobility across the EU, equality of opportunity for men and women, and balance between work and private life.



NATO — Romania is host to the biggest sized medical military exercise in the history of the North Atlantic Alliance. 2,000 soldiers, firefighters, physicians, paramedics, nurses, and volunteers from 39 member and partner states are simulating urban warfare interventions.
