Romanian Parliament rejects Siegfried Mureșan Cabinet in joint vote

Romania’s Parliament convened in a joint session on Wednesday to vote on the investiture of the proposed Cabinet led by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Mureșan, with 313 of the 464 lawmakers in attendance.

During the session, Mureșan outlined a 372-point governing program alongside his proposed list of 16 ministers, representing a coalition of PNL, USR, UDMR, and one independent candidate.

However, the cabinet fell significantly short of the required majority, securing 182 votes in favor and 15 against. A successful investiture required a minimum threshold of 233 favorable votes. (VP)
