Several fixtures counting towards Romanian Cups round of last 32 were played on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, second-League team CSM Ramnicu Valcea sustained a 1-nil defeat to CFR Cluj, on home turf. Third-league team Metalosport Galati lost to second-league opponents Luceafarul Oradea, also 1-nil. In Timisoara, second-league team ASU Politehnica were defeated by Pandurii Targu Jiu, 3-nil. In Brasov, central Romania, CSU Craiova defeated their second-league opponents Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe, 1-nil.


On Wednesday in Stefanesti nearby Bucharest, ASA Targu Mures trounced second league team Unirea Tarlungeni, 5-nil. Second-league squad CS Mioveni grabbed a 3-1 win against another second-league squad, Olimpia Satu Mare. Gaz Metan Medias thrashed third-league opponents Cetate Deva 7-1, on the latter teams turf. FC Voluntari also grabbed a comfortable 5-1 away win against second-league squad Academica Clinceni. The surprise of the day was provided by the game in Braila, where second-league team Dacia Unirea grabbed a precious 1-nil win against League One opponents Concordia Chiajna.



CSM Poli Iasi won the game against third-league team Metalurgistul Cugir, 2-nil. ACS Poli Timisoara won the fixture against Chindia Targoviste, also 2-nil. A bit more balanced was the game pitting League One team Dinamo Bucharest against third league team Dinamo 2, with the former team grabbing a 2-1 win.



Three other games are scheduled on Thursday, of which the most interesting is the fixture in Suceava, pitting Foresta Falticeni against Steaua Bucharest.



Here is also a piece of news from Italian football, as Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches scored the second goal for his squad Napoli, which secured a 2-nil win against Empoli Wednesday night, on home turf. The game counted towards the 10th round of Italys Serie A. Dries Mertens had scored the opener for Napoli. It was for the second time in the ongoing season that Chiriches played in a Serie A game, having previously played in a Champions League fixture. (Translated by E. Nasta)
