Romania’s national rugby team take on South Africa this
coming Sunday, in its second official Group B match as part of the World Rugby
Cup in France. In their debut game against Ireland, the Romanians were severely
beaten, 8-82. Defending world champions, the world’s number 2 team, South
Africa are the favorites to winning the trophy. Our line-up against South
Africa will be the best we can muster Romania’s head-coach Eugen Apjok has stated. As compared to the match
against Scotland, the South African head-coach has announced he operated no
less than 14 changes in his line-up, for the match against Romania. According
to Group B tables, the strongest of the championship’s four groups, Ireland are
at the top, with 5 points, followed by South Africa,
with 4, Tonga, Scotland and Romania with zero points. In another Group B
confrontation, Ireland play Tonga this coming Saturday.


In women’s handball on Saturday, in
a Group B match counting towards the Champions League, Rapid Bucharest play a home
game against Polish opponents Zaglebie Lubin. On Friday, Rapid’s management
replaced the head-coach, Danish Kim Rasmussen with the Spaniard David Ginesta
Montes. After the first round last week, Rapid are 5th-place, with
zero points, while Zaglebie are 8th placed also with no points on
their record sheet, In Group A on Sunday, CSM Bucharest play German opponents Bietigheim, away. After the first round, CSM and Bietigheim are the group’s first and runner-up
team, respectively.


Matches
counting towards the Romanian Football Super league will be resumed at the
weekend. On Friday, UTA Arad play Universitatea Cluj, while Dinamo Bucharest
take on FCU Craiova. On Saturday, CSU Craiova face Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe. On
Sunday, FC Hermannstadt are pitted against FC Voluntari, Oțelul Galați face Rapid
Bucharest, while Farul Constanța take on FCSB. On Monday, Politehnica Iași play
FC Botoșani, while CFR Cluj face Petrolul Ploiești. FCSB are at the top of the
table, with 18 points, followed by CFR Cluj with 16, Rapid and CSU Craiova, with 14 points each.
