Romanian women’s handball team SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea has a no-defeat record in the National League. On Thursday, the team grabbed a 25-19 away win against vice-champions CSM Craiova, who are also EHF Cup holders. SCM Ramnicu Valcea’s best handballer was keeper Yuliya Dumanska, who was transferred right from Craiova in the summer of 2018. For Ramnicu Valcea, Natalya Vasilevskaya of the Belarus was the top scorer, with six goals. For Craiova, Serbian handballer Jelena Trifunović, was the top scorer, with five goals. In the as-it-stands table, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea are at the top with a maximum number of points, 45, out of 15 games played. Romania’s teams playing in the Champions League, CSM Bucharest, are 2nd-placed, with 42 points, out of 15 fixtures.

Now its news from ice hockey, as Romanian team ACSH Gheorgheni on Thursday sustained a 5-2 home defeat by Hungarian opponents Hokiklub Budapest. The match counted towards the play-out stage of the regional ice-hockey competition Erste Liga. Hungarian side Fehervari Titanok are the leader in the rankings with 18 points out of 6 games played. ACSH Gheorghieni are the runner-up team, with 15 points out of 7 games played.



On Saturday, Romania’s national rugby team in the northern Romania town of Botosani faces the national team of Germany in the match counting towards the second round of the Rugby Europe International Championship 2019. In the first round last Saturday, hosted by the central Transylvanian city of Cluj, Romanian sustained a 9-18 defeat by Georgia. As compared to the fixture against Georgia, the Romanian national squad’s technical staff has operated six changes in the team’s lineup for the game against Germany.



We go out with news from football, as this coming weekend sees matches being played, counting towards the 24th round. On Friday, Viitorul Constanta face Poli Iasi. On Saturday, FC Hermannstadt take on Universitatea Craiova in the southern Romanian town of Pitesti. Also on Saturday, CFR Cluj play a home game against Astra Giurgiu. After the defeat in Craiova, CFR Cluj are in dire need of a win if they still want to be the leader in the rankings. The other games are scheduled on Sunday when on home turf FC Voluntari take on Dunarea Calarasi, Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe travel to Medias for a match against the local side Gaz Metan, while Dinamo Bucharest, on home turf, are pitted against FC Botosani. The 24th round’s last game on Monday will see Concordia Chiajna taking on FCSB. CFR Cluj are at the top of the as-it-stands table with 47 points, FCSB are 2nd-placed, with 44, while 3rd-place are Craiova, with 42.
