The Radio Romania Culture Awards Gala

The most important achievements of 2013 in various cultural fields were recognized and celebrated at the Radio Romania Culture Awards Gala held in Bucharest on Monday. Attending the prestigious event were leading figures of Romanian culture. The event was broadcast live on Radio Romania’s Culture channel and on the Internet. The hosts this year were actors Medeea Marinescu and Vlad Zamfirescu, while the Radio Big Band, conducted by Ionel Tudor, performed live all throughout the night. The Excellence Award, one of the most important awards in the gala, went to actor Victor Rebengiuc.

The most important achievements of 2013 in various cultural fields were recognized and celebrated at the Radio Romania Culture Awards Gala held in Bucharest on Monday. Attending the prestigious event were leading figures of Romanian culture. The event was broadcast live on Radio Romania’s Culture channel and on the Internet. The hosts this year were actors Medeea Marinescu and Vlad Zamfirescu, while the Radio Big Band, conducted by Ionel Tudor, performed live all throughout the night. The Excellence Award, one of the most important awards in the gala, went to actor Victor Rebengiuc.



This award means a lot to me, because it is bestowed on me by an elite radio station, the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation, and this can only make me happy. The fact that an institution such as Radio Romania Culture Channel has chosen me as the recipient of this award is a very special moment”.



The other two special awards were granted to soprano Angela Gheorghiu and violinist Razvan Stoica. This year’s edition has also marked a first in the history of the awards. For the second consecutive year, Dan Sociu grabbed the best poetry award, for his volume “Come with me, I know exactly where we’re going”. The best fiction award went to Liliana Corobca for her novel “Kinderland”. Calin Peter Netzer was awarded the best film prize for his feature film “Child’s Pose”, which grabbed numerous distinctions in international film contests, including the Golden Bear at the 2013 Berlin Film Festival.



In the theatre section, stage director Alexandru Dabija scooped the best directing award, while Horea Pastina walked home with the prize in the “fine arts” section. The winner of the “music” section was Nicu Alifantis, who grabbed the award for his album “Mozaic”. In the “education” section, the prize went to a legal education project entitled “No one is above the law”, carried out by the Service for Crime Analysis and Prevention in Bucharest.



The cultural media and online projects award went to the wsebsite bookaholic.ro, while the winner in the cultural project and festival section was the Astra Film Festival in Sibiu. Professor Marin Carciumaru won the prize in the “science” section. Marin Carciumaru set up the Museum of Evolution of Man and Technology in the Paleolithic, the first museum of its kind set up in Central and Eastern Europe that documents the major discoveries in the middle and upper Paleolithic.
