Romania and Israel are stepping up their economic relations

Romanian Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu has paid a visit to Israel where he held talks with high officials.

Romania and Israel must cooperate in order to bring the economic relations between the two countries at the high level of the existing political and military relations, said Romanian Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu, who on Thursday paid a visit to Israel where he held talks with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. On this occasion, two bilateral documents have been signed: a declaration of intent on cutting international roaming fees and a joint statement on cooperation in fields such as electric power and gas transportation, research, development and innovation, high technologies and investment.

Prime Minister Grindeanu said that Romania has a fast-growing economy with great potential for the Israeli business people. He encouraged business people from Romania and Israel to develop their cooperation because, in his opinion, Romania can be one of Europe’s most attractive countries for Israeli investors. Grindeanu has described the political and military relations between the two countries as excellent, adding that Israel is the most important ally in the region.

Also in Jerusalem, the Romanian Prime Minister visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and on this occasion he reiterated the government’s commitment to setting up a Museum of the Jewish History and Holocaust in Romania. According to Grindeanu, the authorities have already made available a building in the Bucharest’s historical center to host the museum premises. The Romanian official’s agenda also included talks with President Reuven Rivlin and with representatives of the Romanian-born Israeli community. (Translated by D. Bilt)
