Romanian Prime
Minister Viorica Dancila has ended her one-week official tour, which included
Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, meant to draw foreign investment
in Romanian infrastructure projects. In Ankara, Prime Minister Dancila was
received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on which occasion they
signed documents of bilateral cooperation in the medical and education fields.
Romania will further support Turkey’s bid to join the EU and the two countries
are determined to continue to work on the consolidation of their economic ties,
of security and of the fight against terrorism.

Viorica
Dancila’s tour continued with a visit to Dubai, where she met with the United
Arab Emirates’ leader, Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. On this occasion,
the Romanian official presented the main opportunities for investment that
Romania has to offer and encouraged the Emirate companies’ participation in bids
for projects launched by the Romanian authorities, under current operational
programmes or under private-public partnerships. The two officials signed a
joint declaration regarding a strategic economic partnership. Trade,
investment, agriculture, tourism, research and innovation are only some of the
priority domains in which business people from the two countries will
collaborate.

In Abu Dhabi,
Viorica Dancila mentioned ethnic and religious diversity and hailed the UAE authorities’
efforts to integrate religious minorities in this country. In Romania, in the south-eastern
area of Dobruja and in several other parts of the country, different religious
communities, the Muslim one included, have been cohabiting in peace and
understanding for hundreds of years, the Romanian Prime Minister has pointed
out.

The last leg of
Prime Minister Dancila’s tour was Kuwait, where, 55 years since the
establishment of the diplomatic ties, the Romanian Prime Minister and Kuwait’s
president, Emir Ahmad Al Jaber al Sabah, voiced their willingness to intensify
political dialogue and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic
and economic fields. At the same time, the two officials have agreed to
organize, next year, the fist meeting of the Romanian-Kuwaiti Joint Cooperation
Committee, coordinated by the foreign ministers. Dancila also met with the
president of the National Assembly, Marzouq Al Ghanim, and the head of the Kuwaiti
Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Romania and Kuwait have great potential for the
development of new convergent projects, including on third markets, and
especially in the Arab world, in sectors such as road infrastructure, oil and
gas, telecommunications and high power lines, Prime Minister Dancila has said.
