Four Romanian teams this coming weekend will prove their mettle in European women’s handball competitions. In a second-leg confrontation CSM Bucharest play Rapid Bucharest on Saturday, in the playoffs counting towards a place in the Champions League’s quarterfinals. Just like in the first leg of the tie, the match will be hosted by Bucharest’s largest indoor arena, the ”Ioan Kunst-Ghermănescu” Multi-Purpose Sports Hall. We recall this past Saturday CSM trounced Rapid Bucharest, 34 to 24.
Matches counting towards the second leg of the EHF European League quarterfinals are scheduled at the weekend. In Buzau on Saturday, Dunărea Brăila take on Danish opponents Ikast. In the first leg, Ikast won, 32-30. On Sunday, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea play a home game against German side Thüringer. We recall a week ago SCM sustained a 29-35 away defeat by Thuringer. The EHF European League’s final tournament is scheduled on May 3rd and 4th in Graz, Austria.
On Saturday and Sunday, the 3rd and 4th matches are scheduled, counting towards the Erste Liga regional ice hockey competition’s semi-finals. In Miercurea Ciuc, the local side Sport Club play Hungarian challengers Budapest Jegkorong Akademia; we recall Sport Club have a 2-nil advantage on aggregate. Also a 2-nil aggregate advantage have Corona Brasov in their confrontation against ACSH Gheorghieni. Corona play a home game this coming weekend. The semis are played following the best-in-seven-games system.
This coming weekend will see matches being played, counting towards the Romanian Football Super League’s Group 1/Group 2 phase. On Friday in Group 2, Unirea Slobozia are pitted against Petrolul Ploieşti, while Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe play FC Hermannstadt Sibiu. On Saturday, FC Botoşani play a home game against Farul Constanţa. In Iasi on Sunday, the local side Poli play a home match against UTA Arad. In Buzau on Monday, the local side Gloria face Otelul from Galati
In Group 1 on Saturday, Rapid Bucharest play a home fixture against Universitatea Craiova. The derby of the round, pitting Dinamo against FCSB, will be hosted by the National Arena in Bucharest. The closing game of the round is scheduled this coming Monday, when Universitatea Cluj play CFR Cluj. CFR Cluj are at the top of the table, with 30 points. Universitatea Craiova and FCSB follow suit, with 29 points each.
