FC Hermannstadt and CFR Cluj will be playing the Romanian Cup football final. On Wednesday, Hermannstadt defeated Rapid Bucharest at home, 2-1. They scored first 16 minutes into the match, thanks to Tiago Goncalves. Four minutes before the end of the match, Rapid’s Borisav Burmaz equalised, with Hermannstadt’s Sergiu Buş then scoring the winning goal in added time. On Thursday, CFR Cluj defeated Farul Constanţa 4-1. The hosts scored only 40 seconds into the match, thanks to Daniel Graovac. On minute 35, Denis Alibec equalised for Farul Constanţa. CFR then took the lead again on minute 41, when Aly Abeid scored, followed by another goal from Louis Munteanu on minute 45. Five minutes into the second half, Lindon Emerllahu scored the final goal of the match. The Romanian Cup final will be held in Arad on 14th May.

FC Argeş made a big step forwards to advancing to the Romanian football Superleague, as they defeated Steaua Bucharest 4-2 on Thursday at home in the 6th leg of the Second League play-offs. Steaua played with one fewer player for a good part of the match, as Dani Iglesias was eliminated in the added time of the first half. Argeş are in third place in the ranking, with 2 points fewer than Csikszereda and 1 point behind Steaua. The two best-ranked teams in the Second League play-offs will go straight into the Superleague, but Steaua is now allowed to advance to the next tier.

The 6th leg of the final stage of the Romanian Superleague will take place at the weekend. In the play-out stage, which brings together the teams who finished the regular season in the lower part of the ranking fighting to avoid demotion, two matches are played on Friday: Unirea Slobozia vs Politehnica Iaşi and Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe vs Oţelul Galaţi. On Saturday, Hermannstadt are playing UTA in Sibiu; on Sunday, Gloria Buzău will face FC Botoşani at home; and on Monday, Petrolul Ploieşti will play Farul Constanţa at home.

In the play-offs, which brings together the teams vying for the championship title, Universitatea Cluj will face Universitatea Craiova at home on Saturday. Rapid are playing FCSB on Sunday in Bucharest and Dinamo Bucharest are playing CFR Cluj on Monday on National Arena. FCSB top the ranking with 3 points ahead of Craiova and 5 points ahead of CFR.
