TALKS The US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will today be meeting in Florida the head of Ukraine’s negotiation team, Rustem Umerov for talks over the US peace plan. The two have earlier held talks with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. The sides wouldn’t offer details about the talks, but the Kremlin spokesperson said that some US proposals had been accepted, others not. ‘Putin would like to end the war, but we’ll see what happens,‘ Trump says. Press agencies say that Russia seems to insist that Ukraine cede some territories and give up its NATO aspirations, whereas Kyiv and its allies have deemed the claims as unacceptable and a proof that Russia doesn’t want peace. In the meantime in Brussels, which on Wednesday hosted the North-Atlantic Council, NATO said it would continue to provide military support to Ukraine.
STATISTICS The number of Romanian companies, which declared their insolvency in November, rose by 50% as compared to the same period last year, says a financial analysis platform. Most of these insolvencies were registered in the hospitality industry, in constructions and installations and in road transportation. Experts believe this situation proves the companies have difficulties in covering their expenses, due to the raised costs, taxes and fiscal obligations as well as due to higher energy prices.
SHIP The Romanian Ministry of Defence has announced that a purchasing contract for a HISAR-class corvette from Turkey has been signed. The total price, which stands at 223 million Euros without VAT, also covers a package of logistic support and personnel training. The purchase is part of the military procurement programme for the Romanian Navy and is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the missions aimed at protecting elements of critical maritime infrastructure, patroling and battle missions. The purchase was approved by the country’s Higher Defence Council in March this year.

The Romanian selection has been included in Group B together with the trophy holder and quadruple world champion, South Africa. Italy and Georgia are the other contenders in the group. Romania, who comes in the 22nd position in a world ranking, is at its 10th participation in the final tournament. The Romanians have played a total of 32 games, out of which 6 wins and 26 defeats.
