The season in the European women's handball competitions has resumed, with wins for CSM Bucharest and Minaur Baia Mare.

The women’s handball team CSM Bucharest defeated the Danish team Odense, on Sunday, in Group B of the Champions League. In the first match with the Montenegrin Bojana Popovic on the technical bench, the Romanian champion team won away against the Danes 33 to 24. The most efficient player of the Bucharest group was the Slovenian Elizabeth Omoregie, with 6 goals. CSM now climbed to 4th place in the group, with 10 points. The French team Brest Bretagne continues to lead the standings, with 16 points. Odense follows with 13, and Ferencvaros Budapest with 12.
In Group A of the Champions League, on Saturday, Gloria Bistrita was defeated at home by the Montenegrin team Buducnost Podgorica, 38-34. Spanish player Danila So Delgado, with 11 goals, was the best scorer for Gloria. The Romanian team continues to occupy 3rd place in the standings, with 12 points, after the Hungarian team Győr, with 18, and the French team Metz, with 14.
In the first match in Group A of the EHF European League, on Saturday, Minaur Baia Mare defeated the Norwegian team Larvik, away, 28-26. In Group C, on Sunday, Rapid met, in Bucharest, another Norwegian team, Bergen, with whom they tied, 32 to 32. Also on Sunday, in Braşov, Corona was defeated by the French team Dijon, 35 to 30, in Group D.
In the last preparation games for the European Men’s Handball Championship, the Romanian team met, away, Hungary. On Friday, in Győr, the hosts won 33 to 23, then on Saturday, in Felcsut, 40 to 34. EHF EURO 2026 will take place between January 15 and February 1 in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The Romanian national squad will play in Group B, facing Portugal on January 16, Denmark on the 18, and North Macedonia on the 20. The group games are scheduled in the Danish city of Herning.
In the regional Erste Liga ice hockey competition, leader Corona Braşov defeated Ujpest Budapest 5-2 at home on Sunday. Also on home turf, defending champion ACSH Gheorgheni thrashed Dunaujvarosi Acelbikak 6-nil. The other team from Harghita, Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc, also played on home turf, but was defeated by Jegesmedvek from Miskolc 4-1.
Several Romanian football teams are training in countries with a slightly milder climate. In Antalya, Turkey, Rapid Bucharest defeated Bulgarian team ŢSKA 1948 Sofia 2-1. Also on the Turkish Riviera, Dinamo Bucharest defeated South Korean team Gangwon 3-2, and Universitatea Cluj drew 0-0 with Czech team Dukla Prague. (EE)
